with a holiday film

Now she is preparing to tell stories differently.
As Kaya Jones expands into acting with a holiday film project, the singer is entering another chapter in a career increasingly defined by evolution rather than limitation.
We spoke with Jones about acting, becoming a student again, the emotional appeal of holiday movies and why expanding beyond music does not mean leaving music behind.
Kaya Jones on Acting, Music & Her Next Chapter
You’ve spent years performing. Why acting now?
I think there comes a point creatively where you ask yourself, What else can I do with everything I’ve learned?
Music teaches you emotion, timing, presence and vulnerability. All of those things matter in acting too.
But acting requires you to surrender in a different way.
That excites me.
Does being a recording artist make acting easier?
Some parts feel familiar, but I don’t want to assume that because I know how to perform onstage, I automatically know how to act.
They’re different crafts.
Onstage, your energy sometimes has to reach thousands of people.
With a camera, the smallest thought can become visible.
I find that intimacy fascinating.
Why were you interested in entering acting through a holiday film?
Holiday films occupy such an interesting emotional space.
People return to them every year because they connect them with family, memories, comfort, hope, love and sometimes second chances.
I like the possibility of creating something people want to return to.
There’s already so much darkness available to us.
I don’t believe creating something hopeful makes it less meaningful.
That sounds connected to the message behind what you’re doing musically right now.
Very much.
Lve Everyone Unconditionally is a philosophy that has become important to me.
And Choose Life is its own musical chapter.
Underneath everything I’m creating right now is this idea of being intentional about what we put into the world.
Acting gives me another language for doing that.
Should people think of this as Kaya Jones trying acting once—or the beginning of a real acting career?
I want to explore acting seriously.
Music isn’t disappearing.
I’m a recording artist. That’s part of who I am.
But I don’t believe artists have to exist inside one box anymore.
Music can lead to film.
Film can change how you approach a song.
Fashion, storytelling, television, live performance and visual art can all influence one another.
That is exciting to me.
Is becoming a beginner again intimidating?
Absolutely.
But that’s also part of why I want to do it.
There is something beautiful about being experienced enough to recognize how much there still is to learn.
You walk into a new room and suddenly you’re listening differently.
You’re studying again.
You’re paying attention again.
I think that’s healthy for an artist.
What should audiences expect from Kaya Jones as an actress?
Hopefully something they weren’t expecting.
I don’t want to simply bring the version of Kaya people already know into a film.
The challenge is disappearing into the character enough that, for a little while, people stop watching Kaya Jones and start watching the person I’m playing.
That’s what interests me.
And meanwhile, music continues?
Absolutely.
This isn’t about replacing one part of my life with another.
It’s about expanding.

I want people to see all of it unfold.
